Inspiration #24 - Happiness revealed
Posted by Val Lewis on 1/24/2012 to Some of my Inspirations
Beauty & seduction is Nature's tool for survival because we protect what we fall in love with.
- Louie Schwartzberg

Too often I find that people are completely and totally caught up in some melodrama or another, and fail to really 'see' the big picture - sometimes I suspect that they are so out of touch with it, they've forgotten it truly exists.  My Mum (who is an incredibly wise woman) often says "If something happens, think about how important it will be in five minutes from now".  5 days.  Weeks.  Years.  You get the idea - say when some 'hotshot' cuts you off on the road, or someone is fumbling for loose change while you're holding something heavy waiting to check-out.  Small potatoes.

My grandmother Bertha was a truly remarkable woman.  I'm only sad that now that I am a woman, I look back and appreciate who and what she was even more, and I would have loved to have known her even more than my memories allow.

She raised 3 boys during tough times in the 40's - had a solid marriage that ended when my grandfather passed.  At around 80, she started dating again, and - seriously - she had a string of boyfriends who were crazy about her.

And why not?  She had such a zest for life - an appreciation for any small gesture.  She would say "If you don't expect, you won't be disappointed".  Which in theory is very true, but in reality, sometimes a wee bit difficult.  One night several years ago she went out to a party - danced the night away with one of her suitors, and then went out with a bunch of friends for ice-cream to top-off the night.  Went to sleep, and passed over to the other side.  Just like an angel.  We should all be so lucky.

She taught me a lot, and my mother and sister are so very much like her.  I am blessed.  Listening to this older gentleman in this video speaking is like listening to my grandmother speak.  Take time to 'smell the roses' - and to watch all the small wonders scattered amongst us flourish.  Enjoy ~!

Hi Val Thank you most sincerely for the personal insights into your life and those of your mother and grandmother. And the video Moving Art which is truly moving on all levels. I wish everyone would take the time to view it,if for no other reason, to move some small bit of their daily lives in a most positive direction.

I have been LOVING your posts... They are part of my daily check-in. Sometimes I don't get a chance to read them and watch all the links at that moment, but I come back to them... It is lovely! Please keep them up!! The video in this post has taken me 3 days to watch (children keep interrupting it!) - but I am so glad that I did!!
