Borosilicate glass hearts are created using glass laden with metals such as silver, and the flame of my lampwork torch. I use a technique commonly referred to as "off-mandrel", which basically means I create them in thin air! ;)
Boro glass is truly one of my many passions, it is magical and mystical, and the colors shift depending on the light source you view the piece in. Very cool stuff! In bright sunshine, Boro is seen to it's absolute best ~ the colors at times appear to glow from within. Indoors, the colors tend to be more subtle ~ but whichever and however a piece of Borosilicate glass is viewed, one thing for sure, it is always sensational.
I've written a blog post about Boro glass and its chemistry. These glass hearts were inspired by my passion for color, mystery and intrigue, and they've been used over many years in countless jewelry designs, created both by myself (some of which can be viewed in my Gallery), as well as many jewelry designers. I hope they will delight and inspire you as well.
